What is 1100 aluminum plate used for?

1100 aluminum is a soft, non-heat-treatable alloy that is easy to weld and form. It is commonly used for chemical equipment, decorative trim, and other applications where corrosion resistance is not a primary concern. It is also frequently used for sheet metal work, particularly in the construction of ducts, gutters, and downspouts. Because it is not heat treatable, 1100 aluminum plate is not suitable for high-strength or high-pressure applications. However, it is an excellent choice for use in low-stress, decorative, and corrosion-resistant projects.

It is made from pure aluminum, with a minimum aluminum content of 99%. This makes it a very low-strength aluminum alloy, with a tensile strength of around 10-14 MPa.
Despite its low strength, 1100 aluminum plate has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine and industrial environments. It is resistant to a wide range of corrosive chemicals, including many acids and alkalis.
It is also a very ductile and malleable material, making it easy to work with and form into various shapes. It can be easily cut, bent, folded, or stamped into a variety of complex shapes.
In addition to its use in sheet metal work, 1100 aluminum plate is also commonly used for a variety of decorative applications, such as signage, nameplates, and architectural trim. It is an excellent choice for these applications because it is inexpensive, easy to work with, and has a smooth, shiny finish.
Some other common applications for 1100 aluminum plate include food processing equipment, heat exchangers, and chemical storage tanks. It is also used in the construction of fuel tanks and other fuel storage systems, due to its corrosion resistance and low weight.
